Bank of Canada's recent Business Outlook Survey indicates positive sentiment

The results of the Bank of Canada's Spring Business Outlook Survey "suggest that business sentiment continues to be positive, supported by healthy sales prospects."

A few highlights from the report:

  • Most regions and sectors are forecasting positive sales numbers in the coming months,
  • Intentions to increase investment and plans for hiring continue to be positive, although less so than in recent surveys, and
  • Credit conditions remain mostly unchanged, but indications point to slight tightening.

According to the website: "The Business Outlook Survey summarizes interviews conducted by the Bank’s regional offices with the senior management of about 100 firms selected in accordance with the composition of the gross domestic product of Canada’s business sector. This survey was conducted from February 12 to March 9, 2018."
