Doug Hartkorn responds to the Federal government's tax proposals

Tax partner Doug Hartkorn has written a letter to Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau in response to the recently released draft legislation and consultation paper (i.e. tax proposal documents).

Doug writes that the tax proposals, which will fundamentally change the taxation of private corporations, their shareholders and family members; deal with complex matters. As evidenced by all the comments and criticisms being levied, these proposals will have far reaching effects well beyond what the federal government apparently considered.

Doug concludes with his belief that the federal government must be convinced to defer many of the tax proposals for further careful study, make a genuine effort to avoid undue complexity and to truly strive for fairness for all taxpayers in the course of improving our tax system.
