Recently, SPLLP managers Romy Waxman and Kristin Berry attended the PrimeGlobal Women’s Leadership Conference in sunny San Diego, California.
This year’s conference tackled many topics relevant to our industry and to members from across North America. Some topics covered included using creativity to improve your leadership style, building your personal story as it relates to your career, and many discussions regarding women in the workplace, women in our industry and inclusivity and diversity.
Romy represented Shimmerman Penn (and Canada) on a panel with three other attendees from across the US where they discussed women’s changing roles in the workplace, programs implemented by firms to help combat gender biases and personal victories and struggles overcome by members of the panel.
Of course we did have some fun too. The last night of the conference included a walking wine tour of La Jolla. This was a great opportunity to learn some history of the state of California, and also to get to know some of the other attendees, and further discuss some of the topics covered earlier that day.
This year's conference left delegates feeling inspired and empowered to bring about change. Kristin was proud to be a part of the planning committee again for 2018. We both look forward to sharing some of the topics covered with our team at Shimmerman Penn, as well as implementing some good ideas shared from other firms through many of our discussions at the conference.
