We were proud and honoured to represent Shimmerman Penn at the PrimeGlobal Women's Leadership Conference this year in San Antonio, Texas. The Conference is an annual opportunity for women in PrimeGlobal member firms to connect and network with colleagues from other member firms, while advancing their leadership skills and promoting growth in their firms.

This year's Prime Global Women's Leadership conference included many useful sessions exploring career advancement topics and of course, networking opportunities. Our primary takeaway from this year's conference and one of our favourite sessions was the "one good idea" session in which each attendee presented a good idea recently implemented at their firm. Hearing about so many other great ideas from other member firms provided us with many great ideas we look forward to sharing here at Shimmerman Penn.

There was a variety of other thought-provoking sessions, such as a discussion on how to "talk straight', networking and business development strategies, the importance of mentors and sponsors (and how they are different) and how to re-energize our lives and careers.

The networking and team-building activities were great, too! The first night of the conference had begun with a margarita pour-off (which Romy's team won with a drink called the Pink Cactus), and on the last night of the conference we enjoyed an organized boat tour through the small river beneath the streets of part of the city lined with stores and restaurants. This was a great way to see part of San Antonio and experience its culture.

Kristin was proud to have been on the organizing committee of this year's conference, and we both look forward to sharing the top takeaways with the manager group at our firm over the course of this summer.

It was great to meet many of our peers from across North America, as well as see many returnees from last year's conference. We look forward to next year's Women's Leadership Conference in San Diego, CA.
